Have you ever found yourself off track on your eating?

Maybe you were doing great, but then you slipped and things went downhill quickly.

Perhaps it was a vacation, a stressful period of time, or Girl Scout Cookie season that derailed your progress.

It happens to us all. We all get off track from time to time.

The funny thing about eating is that when you are in the habit of doing it well, it seems easy to continue to do it well.

But when you slip, the slope is slick and it can feel impossible to get back in the groove again.

This is in part because it is easier to eat poorly. In fact, anyone can do it.

It is also tough because low quality, processed foods are designed to make you crave more and more of them. Bet you can’t eat just one.

Enter my favorite strategy for getting back on track.

It is a strategy that will cost you nothing.

However, it does require you to draw a line in the sand and make a decision.

The strategy is this:

Plan out everything you will eat and drink the night before.

Everything.

Write it down in an app or on paper.

We’ll call this strategy Prelogging.

There is great power in recording what you eat.

There is even greater power and deciding what you will eat ahead of time. Prelogging.

For an added layer of effectiveness, send it to someone and have them check in on you.

I would not recommend doing this every day unless you need to, but use it to get yourself rolling again. Maybe for a day, 3 days, or a week. Whatever you need.

It may take a little more force to get the train back on track, but once you get it moving, it will run smoothly and effortlessly like it did before.
