Quick game...Name That Speaker

“Is this something that is, or is not, in my control?”

“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

“Do or do not. There is no try.”

How many did you know? Did you look up the others?

Much like these Life Philosophy 1-liners, today I want us to come up with our Nutritional 1-liner.

There are many possibilities, but my favorite is Michael Pollen’s 1-liner from In Defense of Food. Here it is:

“Eat food. Mostly plants. Not too much.” (insert Michael Pollen mic drop here)

Simple to understand, not always easy to follow.

Eat food - Eat foods that are real, that can be found in nature. I have yet to discover a Mac and Cheese tree...sorry (please let me know if you do).

Mostly Plants - Most nutritional experts agree that plants should comprise the majority of the food we consume. Instead of a side of broccoli, how about a side of chicken?

Not too much - Stop before you are full. A good rule of thumb is 80% full. (Sidebar: it’s hard to stop at 80% when you are eating at Usain Bolt speed. Note to self: I need to stop eating at Usain Bolt speed).

That’s it for today. Much more to unpack here, but we will leave that for another day. Until then, let’s eat food, mostly plants, not too much...one minute at a time.
